With great excitement, I announce that Netflix has confirmed the release of Bridgerton season three. The season will be released in two parts: the first four episodes will be available to watch on May 16th, while the final four will be available on June 13th.

This particular season follows the romance between the third son of the Bridgerton family, Colin Bridgerton, and his family friend, Penelope Featherington. Fans have been particularly anxious to watch this season due to the possible romance that has been teased since the first season came out in December of 2020. Penelope has held a long-term crush for Colin, yet Colin has only viewed her in a platonic way. Thus, many viewers are eager for this unrequited love to finally be addressed.
But considering the second season came out in 2022, some question why the third season was delayed by a year. Some may not realize this, but Netflix’s Bridgerton is loosely based on the book series with the same title by Julia Quinn. I say loosely because the producer, Shonda Rhimes, had the creative control to largely rewrite the plot of each season. Rhimes called a delay in filming because she felt the need to rewrite a large part of season three. Considering how well-developed previous seasons have been, I am certain this season will be worth the wait.
