Sometimes, nothing seems good except something you can’t have. While scrolling through the Cab, Millie’s, and dining hall menus, I was struck with a craving for a hot Italian sub. Immediately, I was in pursuit of an eggplant parmesan sandwich. It was found in a local pizzeria only four miles from campus. This was an unfortunate epiphany because I had sworn off spending money for a month. I conceded to another night of sweet and sour Lo Mein and got ready to trudge through the light flurries to fetch my meal.
I should never have fretted, for my girlfriend hadn’t given up on our search for dinner. Molly discovered that All Star Pizza was able to be ordered through The Slice app, where she had credit to spend on an order. My mood had never so instantly amended. All was right in the world because my dinner was about to be amazing.
We ordered an eggplant parm sub, a meatball sub, and garlic bread. The food was ready quickly and was accompanied by an incredible aroma upon pickup. Obviously, I tasted the garlic bread as soon as I got back in the car, and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly cheesy, garlicky, and hot.
Digging in was a wonderful experience. The eggplant was of flawless texture (something I often fear when ordering) and great taste. It was served on an Italian sub roll with provolone, marinara, and breading. I could only finish half of it that night but scarfed the rest down for lunch the next day. Dare I say it was even better with the second bake?
Each 7-inch sub was $9.99, and the garlic bread and dipping sauce was $5.99 for more than we could finish. Good prices and good food are all one could really ask for. All Star Pizza saved my Wednesday night and Thursday lunch, and I will definitely be returning.
