Over the years, society has changed many ways of approaching health and wellness. One thing we have noticed many changes to ever since social media is fitness programs. Social media has taken fitness programs to the next level by making them more than just dieting and exercising, but rather complete lifestyle changes. One wellness challenge in particular has gained popularity through social media in 2024: the 75 Hard.
The “75 Hard” is a 75-day challenge that is marketed as an overall wellness and self-improvement plan, 75 Hard allegedly helps people to develop their physical health, mental health and overall lifestyle. The challenge is much more than weight loss; it is also described as a “transformational mental toughness program" by creator Andy Frisella.
75 Hard consists of six strict lifestyle rules that participants are supposed to follow for 75 days straight to improve their fitness, health, and mental strength. If they fail to follow the rules, their progress reverts to day one, and they must start over.
The rules are as follows:
Stick to a diet: you can choose but you must be structured and consistent
Drink a gallon of water every day.
No cheat meals or alcohol
Exercise twice a day: for 45 minutes each time, with at least one session happening outside
Read 10 pages of a book every day
Take a progress picture every day
There are mixed reviews regarding whether the challenge works. Some people share positive experiences in the media from this challenge and back them up with impressive results. However, many doctors advise against it, as “you have to know what you’re doing” and be educated on nutrition and the body to carry this challenge out safely and effectively.
